People face ethical dilemmas every day, some severe and some that require little to no reflection to determine the right action to take. When these dilemmas occur in the workplace, the wrong decision could have damaging effects on the individuals Involved in the company. My taught we good moral concept, or ideas of right and wrong from a combination of my values and virtue. My virtue has allowed me to rise above ethical dilemmas in the workplace and apply my values to make the right decision when faced with a dilemma.

The relationship among virtue, values, and moral concepts in the ethical dilemma Is closely related. One encounters ethical dilemmas at home, in public and at work. In my pollen In order to have an assertive understanding about a dilemma one must dissect and analyses closely the things that are Involved with this dilemma. Even though virtue, values, and morale share salary meanings, but they all reflect on one’s actual feelings and thoughts about an ethical situation.

Virtue for example can be described as the quality of doing what Is right and avoid what is wrong: It can also be seen as an admirable quality of a person or a particular moral excellence (Terrine & Nelson, 2011). Values are the rules by which we make decisions about right and wrong, should and shouldn’t, good and bad (Terrine & Nelson, 2011 They also tell us which are more or less important, which is useful when we have to trade off meeting one value over another. Morals have a greater social element to values and tend to have a very broad acceptance.

Morals are far more about good and bad than other values (Terrine & Nelson, 2011). We thus judge others more strongly on morals than values. A person can be described as immoral, yet there is no word for them not following values. When asked to describe n ethical dilemma that I have faced at work, the first thing that came to my mind was when a coworker was stealing money and Jewelry from the company I worked for. When I first started at the Jewelry company I worked at, I was Just a sales associate just coming for the first time.

There were times that one sale associate would change the amount of the price of a purchase when she would count the register and check the receipts to make sure it would balance at the close of the business day. Then there were times when we look for a piece of Jewelry and it never showed up anywhere and we could never find the merchandise when she would ark. The external social pressures influenced business ethics in this situation was the fact I grew up with this lady and we had been close friends since middle school.

We played on the same track and basketball team and hung out together with our other close friends. What also made this particular dilemma difficult was she was Like a sister to me and she also helped me get this Job. I told her that the manager was starting to suspect her of taking merchandise and money and that If It kept coming up short then she would be given a warning or suspended from the Job. After a week .NET by, she had stopped the stealing and I felt a little better that things was changing.

Then one day she came to work and I saw her steal some money out of the cash register. I had enough because I had warned her that the manager was looking at her as the person that was stealing and she continued to steal anyway. I had to decide if my friend was more important than my job, but if she does not learn now my Job over my friend and I knew my friend would never be a friend to me again but I needed my Job and could not let her continue to do his again. I went to the manager ND I told her I say her stealing from the register and she came out and called her into her office.

She was fired that day and I never spoke to her again because she felt that I betrayed her by telling on her, but I felt I made the right decision to choice my job over my friend. I have recently been faced with the same dilemma today where I work now. I work at mental health faculty and saw a coworker steal personal items from a client of ours. My first thought was to go tell the manager and that what I did. To me it was not about telling on a person, but looking out for the individuals we care or that cannot talk back to tell that person do not take my belongings.
