SWOT Analysis: Ability to Find a Job after Graduation

There will be a total of four strengths, nakedness, opportunities and threats. There will also be an explanation of how they will impact my Job search. Strengths With an administration of human services major, I also hold degrees in business management and human resources. I have been working for a developmental center under the department of human services for the past eight years as clerk typist in a group home setting. I have handled many administrative tasks for the group homes that relate to the human services needs of the clients.

I have also worked for other employers where I helped manage an office and staff on my shift. I previously worked retain staff for a company. I am bilingual speaking, reading and writing both English and Spanish. I also have computer skills with knowledge of many operating systems as well as many software programs. These are Just some of my strengths as a present and previous employee. However, I have learned the value of effective communication and the power of teamwork by being married for almost two years.

Weaknesses There are quite a few weaknesses with my present major of administration of human revises. Although I work under the department of human services, I lack relevant work experience. There is also a lack of Job knowledge since I haven’t worked in actual human services. I also have negative personal characteristics such as lack of shyness. I may also have weak leadership skills. When I finish this degree program I will qualify by having a degree but an employer may look over my resume due to lack of relevant work experience as well as Job knowledge.

I know that the shyness and leadership skills can be worked on, but employers usually want an employee that is throng, firm and has Job knowledge. I hope that continuous improvement and learning will help me succeed. Opportunities Many titles in the administration of human services are considered fast growing titles and there are many opportunities. Enhancing my education further to seek better opportunities. There are part-time and volunteer positions in the human services field that can help with Job knowledge. The human services field has opportunities for advancement.

The continual growth of the aging population as well as the population in general is another opportunity. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of social and community service managers is expected to grow by 27 percent from 2010 to 2020, faster than the average for all occupations. These opportunities have an impact on my Job search due to an employee needs to be able to take advantage of these opportunities. Threats There are quite a few threats for the human services field. In some cases there may be downsizing of programs.

There may be competitors with more skills, experience or knowledge. There is also the lack of advanced education or training in the field. There may also be companies that are not hiring people with my major or degree. These threats can impact my Job search due to most employers want to hire employees that know what they are doing and have experience in the field. Conclusion In conclusion, in completing this SOOT analysis I was able to clearly see that I need to work on some things in order to find a Job after graduation. I need to improve my strengths and decrease my weaknesses.

I also need to take advantage of my opportunities and lessen my threats. I think with the proper research into the administration of human services field, I will be able to succeed in my Job search after graduation.
