Hospital Management System

Project/ Introduction Through preliminary literature survey/review on l. T management systems In Zanzibar it can be noted that hospitals have not fully computerized their data management systems. Most hospitals still rely on manual data capturing and storage mechanisms. Such traditional data management systems are prone to many errors, faults and biases through the human factor (the personnel who capture and manage the data).

As a result, a lot of data gets lost, distorted or destroyed through the long paper work involved. This causes a lot of inconveniences and difficulties in accessing data that is stored manually. This research project is inspired to address the lack of a user friendly I. T model In managing data and information In hospitals. The project seeks to design a prototype of a more efficient, user friendly and flexible I. T management system that can be adopted In hospitals. The model will be developed through pH programming language.

Hospital Management Is a web based application to manage the activities related to doctor and patient. Hospital Management is based on distributed architecture. This involves the web services which receives request from the web based application and service processes the request and sends the response back to the application. Web services performs the database operations like Insert, delete and update the information about the patients, doctors etc. This kind of distributed architecture is called as Service Oriented Architecture (SO). This application contains login form, patient registration, actor registration.

Hospital Management application allow patients to edit their information like patient name, contact number, address, disease from which he Is suffering from etc. The concept of hospital management Is very big. The scope of hospital management Involves different modules Like login module, patient Info, module will include the operation related to login, forgot password, password change, sending confirmations or alerts etc. Patient info module will include the details about the patient like patient history about his treatment and doctors involved in the treatment, details of medicines suggested by doctors.

Billing Module will include the details of fees, mode of payment used by the patient to pay the fees. Registration module will allow the users to register their profiles. Administration module allows performing operations like creating the new users, performing password change operations, loading the information of doctors for the first time. Hospital Management uses SQL server 2005 as the backbend. The database is maintained on the remote server, this database holds all the Information related to the hospital.

The users can search the squired data easily within no time. A very less number of people are required to handle the system. The patient’s need not wait for long time to fulfill his requirement. There is no chance of any failure in the system, which improves the performance of the system and also increases the efficiency of the system. Though this system is very beneficial a minor failure in the server or else the computer leads too major loss of data. 1. 1. 1 Expected Outcomes The research project will contribute new programming insights in the field of Information Technology with particular reference to hospital management. The proposed research project will offer a flexible and user friendly I. T model for hospital The project seeks to improve the easy documentation, storage and management. ; filing of various Information Communication Technology (CIT) data for both the hospital management and patients. 1. 1. 2 Research Questions ; How can we improve the hospital management systems in Zanzibar? ; Why do we need an I. T model in managing data in hospitals in Zanzibar? ; Which I. T models can be developed to improve the efficiency of data storage and management in hospitals? What can be done to improve I. T mainstreaming in hospital management systems? 2. 1 Statement of the Problem Although there has been a major improvement in data management systems in the I. T industry, most institutions still lag behind in terms of adopting I. T management systems. Notably, institutions that still remain behind in terms of adopting CIT management systems include hospitals in Zanzibar. As a result, many data and This research project then seeks to develop an I. T data management system that can be effectively adopted or used by hospitals. 2. 1.

Justification of the Study The proposed research project is very relevant and significant as it will contribute new knowledge to hospital management systems. The research project will contribute to a better understanding on how to improve the efficiency, easy storage, communication and management of information systems within hospitals in Zanzibar. The study is also a contribution of a ‘new I. T model, thus it will contribute in terms of knowledge generation. The proposed study is key/important in improving the efficiency, easy storage, communication and management of information.

This duty is also relevant and significant the sense that, most hospitals are facing challenges in effectively managing their data through the use of manual data storage methods. The proposed research is also unique in the sense that not much has been done in terms of modeling an I. T model that can be used in hospital management systems. This makes this research project unique in its own way. Lat is also expected that the study will come up with interesting findings and solutions that will help improve hospital management systems. The study is also feasible; hence it will be completed within the set time-frame.
