The society would be nothing without adverts. People, Businesses and other campaigns produce adverts to advertise their products, what they do, and who it is for. Businesses all around put out posters, leaflets and even television ads; this is so it can tell the worlds and inform them on what is going on and what is out there for different kinds of people. There are many ways of advertising e.g. television, magazines, and news papers. If advertising didn’t exist then the main businesses and other people wouldn’t be making profits and sharing their ideas. Businesses want to advertise their products so people would consider buying it. Advertisements in out days make it; persuasive, interesting and eye catching this is so that they want people to know about their product and share it among other people.

The product shown in advert one is a hair product, Pantene Pro-V Layers Collection. The advert I have chosen is out of a magazine called ‘Hello’. On the advert there is a young women shown in the right hand side with a wet wash look orange dress. The woman shown has long brunette hair just past her shoulders. ‘Create an impression with a salon style layers’ which is written in a medium sized bold font and the top of the page. The audience for this advert would tend to be aimed at females. All you women out there, ‘Prepare to love your layers’

In contrast the next advert is ‘Oxfam Educate a Child’ an advert from a magazine called ‘New’. The advert is getting across that Oxfam want you to educate a child during your morning catch-up. Every child has a right to education. This advertisement is trying in influence as many people as they can to try and help a child get the right to an education. Advertising is very useful and trustworthy but some companies employ false advertising which is illegal. Nestle is a good example of false advertising because when they made breast milk for Kids in Africa instead of their mothers breast feeding them. But what Nestle didn’t put on their product or tell people is that the breast milk contained water from Africa which is dirty and full of bacteria. This made the kids in Africa sick. Nestle made a bad repetition because of this product.

A good example of good advertising is the ‘Kellogg’s Special K’ which helps you to lose weight in two weeks which will make the product sell more than others because it makes you lose weight so obese people will want to purchase it. Kellogg’s didn’t hide anything like Nestle did with their product. There are many comparisons between the two adverts has many differences between the adverts. The main differences are the product, language, colours and images used in the adverts. On advert two the Oxfam advert the designers have used blues and greys to sets a boring, dull but calming effect but advert one the Pantene Pro-V Layer Collection uses bright, colourful colours which contrasts in a happy feeling and almost a boasting felling.

The langue used on the Oxfam uses very formal langue, but the audience is for anyone. ‘Help educate a child during your morning catch-up’ this language infers that it is easy to ”educate a child” and it is possible to do it in a short time which persuades people to take part in the campaign. As for the language used in the Pantene Pro-V advert the audience is aimed at females which the company has put in persuasive language for the females to get there perfect curls. This language also gets across that there product is worth buying and trying at as nine out of then people tried this product for a week, the result of the product was fantastic!

The images used on the Oxfam advert have been linked into the advertisement as this is to get across on educating a child. The main image is the man stood in his office with a child’s wooden single desk as his desk. This show that kids are been mentioned in the advert and in the foreground behind the desk is a black board. This also relates to the advert as it is saying ‘educating a child’ this is because this application is what teachers use to present the class. The advert on the Oxfam uses blue’s and gray’s which sets up a dull feeling. Also there was a middle aged man in the centre of the office on the phone. This may indicate that he is ringing up, during his morning catch up to help educate a child. The images and the layout were very clever on the way they have set them out and the way they relate with office work.

However the advert advertising the Pantene Pro-V layer collection only has limited there images and only uses, a few main ones; the main image is the women stood to the right hand side of the advert in an orange Morang coloured dress, this implicates that this advert is mainly directed to females. The orange Morang coloured dress stands out from this advert as it clashes with the brunette hair and makes the advert bold and very appealing. The women advertising this product has natural looking curls this is to try and show what this product can do and offer to the people out there. One of the other main images is that the products are shown in the left corner; this has three normal sized bottles which consist of; shampoo, conditioner and also a moose. The background on the advert it almost looks like a restaurants but it’s been blurred out so the women stands out.

So in comprising between the two adverts they all send a different sort of message out to the readers. Advert one which explains about educating a child sends out a message that it is easy, and it would help a lot to the poorer people in society to help get a better education as everyone is entailed to it, but in advert two the curl layers collection only gives out a message to the female part of the population around the word and only the ones that are interested in getting natural looking curls.

They both use a different range of language and uses images and colours in different ways that they think the attraction this advert may have, for example the greys and blues on advert one are quite formal and relaxing also dull, this may indicate that the producers may expect the audience to be very formal, and relaxed about it but in contrast to advert two which uses orange, indicated that this is a happy, colourful advert and eye catching. This will draw the females in to read more about it.

Conclusion

The Oxfam Educate a Child during your morning catch-up doesn’t really appeal to me because i don’t have the time and doesn’t interest me. All thought advert one the Pantene Pro-V Layer Collection is the same because i don’t need their products but interests me a little as i could by this as a gift for a friend or family. Both of the adverts attract different sorts of people. Women/Girls would buy the Layers Collection, and i think most men or business people would go for advert two. I found both adverts totally different in many ways. Pantene Pro-V should be happy with their advert as many people will go out and buy it. It is very good for an advert to have a demonstration like the women on it used their products and it shows you how the hair should look like. The Oxfam advert was clever as he was in an office making a phone call but had a student desk and black board to set the theme for Educating a Child.
