Business for the Glory of God

God is a great resource on business and each chapter starts with a phrase. The book has many opportunities for glorifying God but also many temptations to sin and what It can do to you and your business. The writer Grudge concisely lays out his reasons why business Is good and very briefly raising some of the dangers of greed, refry and materialism. The weakest arguments by far are his argument that Inequality of possessions Is the way God Intended things to be, that this is a good thing that gives glory to God.

While extreme wealth and extreme poverty are both considered ‘bad things’ there’s no way of drawing a line, no attempt at working out how some inequality is good but too much inequality is bad. Nor is there recognition that in the countries that have excelled in competition, profit making and generally getting rich is also the countries with the greatest inequality. So while it is good to be in business, and it is good to equip those who are called to business, this short book is unbalanced by taking complicated issues and making them black and white.

For me is what the Bible is about taking a yes being a yes and no meaning don’t do It, nor go there because he gives you all the reasons of what happens In evil deeds. Companies close, people go bankrupt and show on the news of people going to Jail for fraud for being greedy. Hebrews 12:11 NIB No deadlines seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, It produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. You must be fiscally disciplined in business. You cannot put all your hard work at risk by not being focused on your big picture goals and your monthly sales goals.

It is painful at times, but it will produce quite a harvest. I believe the book Business for the Glory of God; was telling us to do Just as the scripture Hebrews 12:11 NIB above illustrates for our life. The author Wayne Grudge took business and put it together for the Glory of God in such a perspective manner. After reading this book it makes it clear for me that God works in every part of our life, and we can use ownership, profit, or inequality of possessions, and that each one provides many opportunities to glorify God.

When business Is conducted In a way that Imitates God’s character and creation there Is blessings In everything around us. Grudge acknowledges early In the book that glorifying God sounds like it belongs in church and not in the business world. But he rejects that idea because one can glorify God not only in the sanctuary but in the boardroom as well. The ways of worship may change, but the meaning and motives do not. The overall purpose of man is to bring glory to God and Grudge outlines how business can provide an avenue for that very commitment.

God has called certain people to be business leaders and with this call, to do business well. As Colombians 3:23-24 states, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for en, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. Grudge (2003) sets the standard early by noting in the book one “will find that In every aspect of business there are multiple layers of opportunities to give glory to God, as well as multiple temptations to sin” (17). The book promotes the Idea that honest business can bring glory to God.

Matthew 1, God only gives “good gifts” (812) so from this passage one can conclude that money is not evil since God looked down upon, is that money differentiates us from animals and allows humanity to do business fairly and with set standards. Money can be also used to promote. God urges people to use money to promote and advance His Church and kingdom; this is called tithing. Malachite 3:AAA (2007) states, “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house” (802).

In furthering the ideas of the book, money gives many occasions to advance churches, meet needs, and provide for the less fortunate. I have heard the saying money ruins people. No I would have to say no, they need to keep connected to God and they will have no problems in that area. Throughout the book, one can clearly see the underlying theme is that equines can be used to bring God glory. Each particular chapter’s topic can be used to reveal evident characteristics of God. When thoroughly studying the book through a biblical worldview, one cannot help but agree.

The biggest arguments Christian’s have against business are answered in a concise and professional manner. From employment to poverty, borrowing to the attitude of the heart, a wide assortment of subjects are briefly covered and explained using a biblical outlook. Every Christian should read this book and even our government could use the biblical callings on heir life for the world reviewing this small book. Just what are four father’s stood for in the business world with ethics, and God in everything that we do. I also think business can be used to promote the mission of the church.

Business is rarely seen as a spiritual activity but it can be used to promote and finance Christian ministries across the world. It has been said that pastors have their congregation on Sundays and if they are lucky on Wednesday evening but businesses have that same congregation the rest of the week. The point of this saying is to draw emphasis on the dead that businesses are important and should not be neglected because it’s a place where Christian’s spend so much time and effort. Out of a business come potential finances and services that can help the church exert influence into an ever-changing world.

Businesses are a valuable resource to the church and hopefully Grudge adds this point in a future revision or altogether new book. Overall, Business for the Glory of God is a valuable resource to the businessperson and does an excellent Job of equipping business leaders with practical knowledge that is filtered through a biblical worldview. Wayne Grudge makes an apologetic, theological defense for business. When business is done right, humanity is pointed to God’s goodness. The book gives a short, but detail rich overview of the Bible’s teaching on the moral goodness of business.

Business provides the Christian a glimpse of creation’s abundance, human depravity, and restoration’s hope. God generously gives all of the components of business that are listed in the book to humanity so that the world can work in order and accuracy. We let pride, and arrogance get into our companies and it does destroy everything we were trying to create. Businesses may set out to righteously pursue all the topics listed in the book, but failure to prepare for government taxes and regulations will put a considerably large burden on the business owner and employees.

Government alters the ways business is conducted and is an impacting influence for when one is trying to use business to bring glory to God. This is why we need more structure in government to make a successful outcome for everyone. I do believe Grudge is not blind to the abuses of business, the fact that we are operating with God’s stuff not ours. He regularly comments wrought the book on concerns to balance the view, but the real wealth of attitude- changing information comes from not-often-talked-about fact that business can in- and-of-itself be glorifying to God.

We don’t have to feel “vaguely guilty” about business but can use it to both glorify God while we’re doing it and advance the Kingdom through it. Being a single mom, I have wanted to go into business all my life. The taxes and rules make it hard for someone without money to build a business for success, because some companies go under before they get started. The author has gotten great response for writing a book on business to glorify God. I have had this book in two classed now and it is one of my favorite.

Though I do think he could have made it a little longer and went into some in-depth business policies with biblical. Though I think he wanted people to pick this book up and not get bored, catch a lot of different people’s eye on business and to the glory of God. The one thing I can say about the book it defiantly catches your attention and Just like the Bible you can go to many different chapters and it will tell you how to live your life healthy and what will happen if not. How the enemy will come in and destroy a reggae, business or family if you turn to ways that are not of God.

One part of the Bible that really sticks out in my mind is money. How we should tithe it’s the Lords money and he gives so much to us, but we need to give back first. We all have had this issue when coming to God for the first time. The next one is there is about two or three pages in the Bible that tells us who we should be sleeping with and not. Though people miss this part of the Bible also, the Book Business for the Glory of God. Means Just that and we at times don’t get that message, but in everything we do it should be for Gods Glory.

Not for our own hidden agenda, that Just lets our father down in so many ways in the Bible. If we want to be success like the book talks about then we should ask God if this is the business he wants us opening. Then we should find out how we can build a business that will be reputable is everything we are doing like the author of the book mentioned over and over. Would this be a business that we can help out our life and what God wants for us and our family? Because when we are pleasing our father he is blessing us in so many ways, all for his glory.
