Over the course of growing up I have met many teammates and friends from Brazil. They always talk about the differences and similarities from the U. S. And Brazil. One of the key things with negotiating in Brazil is building a personal relationship. Before sitting down In a meeting room, it is important that you go out for lunch, dinner, or even Just coffee. Brazilian like to get to know someone and build a certain connection before talking business.
Many times it puts one a footstep Into securing a negotiation or contract. Another thing that I found Interesting Is that Brazil being a South American country, many people think that Brazilian can understand Spanish Just fine. This Is not the case. Although Spanish can be understood, It Is not something that can be understood fluently, therefore causing Brazilian to deedless such types of negotiation. English Is Brazier’s second language and you might be better off using that Instead of Spanish. One other important thing that I learned Is the pace of the negotiation.
Some Brazilian, and according to my friend this can be divided by regions, are really fast paced and extremely stressed. When approaching to negotiate with these types of people you usually want to go straight to the point since they want to seal a deal. Then there are the other types who are a lot slower and laid back. These people like to take their time when something is offered. Patience is key when meeting these types of people. One company that I researched that has negotiated in Brazil is a very well known company.
Apple as we all know the creators of phone, pad, and so much more went ahead and introduced their products in Brazil. In a article that I found, it stated that earlier this year Apple was set to lose its Apple trademark in Brazil. The trademark was challenged by Brazilian Electronics, who had launched a new line of Android products with the same trademark earlier that year. These types of things are what big companies have to deal with when entering other countries. They have to be really careful.
