New Job Starting a new Job can be nerve racking, especially when I got my very first job. On the first day, the boss expects me to unprepared and make mistakes. That’s typical. I TLD want to be like that; I wanted to come to work prepared. The place I worked at was Checkerberry. Checkerberry is a self-served yogurt bar where people were constantly coming in and getting various amounts of frozen yogurt and treats. When I woke up that day, I realized that I needed to be moving around; not standing. Before work, I decided to devote my time on exercising and being productive.
That’s hat I needed to do in order to be successful at my new Job In Checkerberry. After preparing for work, I walked Into Checkerberry feeling I had an advantage going In on what I did beforehand; preparing myself. My first day on my new Job couldn’t have come easier for me. Exercising before work kept my blood flowing through my body. Doing what my parents told me before they left work, helped me become productive. I felt well prepared, focused, and motivated. The first thing my boss had me do was work the cash register. I was good at math in high school so I thought counting money would be easy for me.
When I was working at the register, I learned how to operate it with a breeze. I was quick moving my hands, picking up money, putting money in the register, and swiping credit cards. I remember one customer that I had to help said, “Are you new here? ‘ after I gave his money to him. Of course I responded with politeness, “Yes sir. ” Then he said, “You are fast on that register! ” Once he said that, I couldn’t ask for a better start to my Job. I felt so good to get customer feedback on how I was doing. After the register, my boss immediately had me start cutting food from the cold bar.
The cold bar had 16 different types of candy ND fruit in there. As soon as my boss told me what to do I was right on it. The first thing I had to do was get the candy from the fridge and a cutting board. Next I would get the knife and chop the candy into bite size pieces. It was difficult to cut them at first because the candy was hard when I took it out of the fridge. Besides cutting the candy, the fruit on the other hand was time consuming. I had to clean the fruit by hand and cut the bad parts off of the fruit such as the strawberries, peaches, and kiwi. The customers loved the fruit and I was always refilling It.
The next thing I had o do on the Job was fill up the dry bar. The dry bar has many types of toppings for the frozen yogurt. Every candy I could think of was In the dry bar containers. All I had to do was open a fresh new bag of candy and dump It Into the container. Then, my boss told me to refill the yogurt In the machines. I had to make sure those were always filled up. If I didn’t fill them up, my boss was unhappy. Nevertheless, I started refilling the machines with frozen yogurt. I had to shake them before I put the frozen yogurt In the machine so the yogurt wouldn’t be Icy. The first day of my new Job was winding down.
I was thinking on how the day went. Even though it wasn’t over yet, I still thought I could have been better on my first day, but it wasn’t over. My boss wanted me to do something besides stand there I started to clean tables, making sure everything was filled. I even swept and mopped floors in areas where the costumers weren’t at. Including going to the bathrooms replacing paper towels and toilet paper. In certain situations when my co-worker was going to the bathroom, I had to make sure I was cleaning, refilling, and helping people at the register. That’s when I had to go quick with no exceptions, but be reductive to satisfy our customers.
The customers were impressed by my efforts and all I could say to them was, “Thank you and come again. ” Despite my efforts, I needed to learn to become a better employee. My first day of my new Job couldn’t have gone better. Learning a new Job isn’t supposed to be like the experience I had. I felt like Vive been there for a month with the training I had the first day. The only reason I was so successful was because I was well prepared. If there was one thing that I learned from that first day it was that there’s a difference between someone that is well prepared and someone who isn’t.
