Role of education in Rural Development in India. The real India live in villages this saying is true today. As more than the half of the population of the country lives In villages. Rural development Is an Important factor for the development of our economy. The important motivating factor for the development of the economy in doffs time is education. Like in the body of human being liver is responsible for the proper functioning of the body, in the same way education acts a backbone for the economy. Rural development suggests both the economic Improvement of people as well as greater social transformation.
As more than half of the population in India lives in villages, therefore the education system in rural area also plays a significant contribution in the growth of the economy. The present system of education in India was introduced by the British In the 20th century. The system so given has a western style and content, Ignoring traditional structures and so has declined. Education has been a problem in our country and lack of it has been blamed for all sorts of bad for hundreds of years. Funny thing is that from the colonial times, few things have changed.
We have established, Law schools and other Institutions of excellence. Students study only to score marks In exams Like IT JEEZ, CLAY etc. Creating a few more schools or allowing hundreds of colleges and private universities to quickly is not going to solve the sudden change of education system in India. And a sudden change It Is we are In a country where the people are spending their parents life savings and use money on education and even then not getting standard education and struggling to find employment of their choice.
The mind numbing competition and rote learning do not only crush the creativity and originality of millions of Indian dents every year, it also drives brilliant students to commit suicide. We live in country where the people see education as the means of turning the social and economic ladder. There are several problems being faced by the schools running in rural India. Some of these problems are stated below- ; Lack of Infrastructure- Many schools In villages lack proper Infrastructure faculties. There are no proper facilities for sitting as sometimes children are even made to sit on the floor due to non availability of furniture.
